Recap: Western Hills Mustangs vs. Trotwood-Madison Rams
The Western Hills Mustangs came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with an 86-79 win over Trotwood-Madison. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
When it comes to explaining why Trotwood-Madison lost, one person who can't be blamed is Giovannis Barbar. Despite the final result, he scored two points along with 47 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tim Carpenter, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Trotwood-Madison smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 30 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Western Hills is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. As for Trotwood-Madison, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Western Hills will challenge Taft at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Taft has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 846 points over their last 11 matches. As for Trotwood-Madison, they will head out on the road to face off against Springfield at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
