Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Round Valley

Round Valley had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They secured a 39-34 W over the Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets. For the Elks, this counts as revenge for the 58-37 win the Yellow Jackets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Round Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kelci Walker, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Walker has scored at least a third of Round Valley's points. Carla Arreola was another key player, putting up 15 points and six boards.

Round Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 24 consecutive games.

Round Valley has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. As for Blue Ridge, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Round Valley won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Many Farms at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Blue Ridge, they will host Show Low at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
