Basketball Recap: Greencastle Picks Up Fifth Straight Win on the Road

Greencastle had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They snuck past the South Putnam Eagles with a 56-50 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tiger Cubs also won the last time the pair played back in February.

Greencastle got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sam Gooch out in front who went 6 for 9 on his way to 16 points and eight rebounds. Nathan Sutherlin was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Despite the loss, South Putnam still got an impressive performance from Khalil Jefferson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Garner, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 15 points.

Greencastle pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points per game. As for South Putnam, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Greencastle wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 62-59 win against Southmont on the 14th. As for South Putnam, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-54 defeat against Marshall on the 14th.
