Basketball Game Preview: St. Bonaventure Seraphs vs. Canyon Cowboys

St. Bonaventure is 0-3 against Canyon since December of 2014 but things could change on Friday. The St. Bonaventure Seraphs will challenge the Canyon Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. St. Bonaventure knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 14 matchups -- so hopefully Canyon likes a good challenge.

St. Bonaventure is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They secured a 66-60 W over Irvine. That's two games straight that the Seraphs have won by exactly six points.

St. Bonaventure's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Mathew Wilson, who to rack up 22 points and four steals, and Charlie Adams, who en route to 22 points. With that strong performance, Wilson is now averaging an impressive 2 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Walter Moore, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Canyon had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 55-48 victory over the Eagles. Given the Cowboys' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while the Eagles are ranked 277th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. Bonaventure's win was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 26-6. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.8 points over those games. As for Canyon, their record now sits at 23-9.

St. Bonaventure came up short against Canyon in their previous meeting back in December of 2015, falling 57-50. Can St. Bonaventure avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
