Recap: South Bend Career Academy Trailblazers vs. Bowman Academy Eagles

The South Bend Career Academy Trailblazers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their ninth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Bowman Academy, falling 59-7. South Bend Career Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-7.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, South Bend Career Academy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Bowman Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kahlen Robinson out in front who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Robinson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ariana Grveles, who scored 16 points along with two steals.

South Bend Career Academy's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-13. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.2 points per game. As for Bowman Academy, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Bend Career Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against South Bend Clay at 6:30 p.m. on January 25th. Hopefully South Bend Clay focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 33 on Tuesday. As for Bowman Academy, Bowman Academy and Michigan City will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
