A’mon Pimpton, Abilene Cooper – Pimpton set a school record by rumbling for 306 rushing yards on 30 carries in a 42-13 victory over Hereford. A week after rushing for 221 yards against Lewisville Hebron, rushed for three touchdowns in the victory. Pimpton has 937 rushing yards and seven touchdowns this season for the Cougars.

Jordan Baeza, El Paso Del Valle – Baeza rushed for two touchdowns and also completed 24-of-36 passes for 364 yards and a touchdown as Del Valle won 34-31 over Parkland in a District 1-5A rivalry.
A.J. Benavides, Alice – Behind the throwing of Benavides, Alice remained unbeaten on the campaign with a 6-0 mark with a 45-0 victory over Laredo Cigarroa. Benavides completed 29-of-37 passes for 273 yards and five touchdowns in the victory. Mark and Emilio Garcia both caught two touchdowns for Alice in the win.
D.J. Betik, Ennis – Betik completed 17-of-22 passes for 345 yards and six touchdowns as Ennis pounded Cleburne, 56-13. Kyle Ginyard caught three of Betik’s touchdown strikes and finished with seven catches for 154 yards.
LaDarius Brown, Waxahachie – Brown hauled in five passes for 184 yards and three touchdowns as Waxahachie came from behind to down Waco, 35-28. Brown’s scoring receptions covered 56, 67, and included the game-winner with three seconds remaining from 35 yards. Brown is just a sophomore.
Malcolm Brown, Cibolo Steele - Brown rushed for 232 yards and two touchdowns in a 28-21 victory over New Braunfels Canyon. Brown got Steele on the board in the first quarter with a 48-yard scamper and won it in the fourth quarter with a 35-yard run as Steele remained unbeaten.
Cody Green, Dayton – The excitement is building in Lincoln, Neb., so far the choice of destination for this signal caller. The future Nebraska Cornhusker rushed for 162 yards and three touchdowns and added 179 passing yards and two more scores as Dayton pounded Crosby, 49-14.
Chauncey Harris, Converse Judson – Harris turned on his rockets in a 49-13 victory over San Antonio Highlands. Harris scored on pair of 3-yard touchdown runs and a 62-yard run in the first quarter alone. Harris later added two more touchdowns on runs of 63 and 60 yards and scored on a 26-yard scoring reception from Cody Boswell. Harris rushed for 237 yards on 12 carries in the win.
Quincy Kibbett, Kerrville Tivy – Kibbett made the most of his eight carries in a 42-28 win over San Marcos. Tivy rolled behind the work of Kibbett, who rushed for 231 yards and a touchdown. Kibbett also returned a kickoff 75 yards for a score and added two touchdown receptions of 37 and 46 yards from Johnny Manziel.
Christine Michael, Beaumont West Brook – Michael rushed for an impressive 237 yards on 13 carries – an average of 18.2 yards per carry – in a 61-20 win over Channelview. Michael scored on runs of 67, 18, and 27 yards in the win and has 506 yards and 10 touchdowns in just three games this season.
Taylor Ratcliff, Leander – Ratcliff rushed for 219 yards and four touchdowns in a 29-21 victory over Austin Westwood. Ratcliff scored on touchdown runs of 5, 17, 28, and 2 yards and totaled all but 61 yards of Leander’s offense.
DaQuan Roberts, Manor – Roberts made five grabs in a 46-28 win over Lehman, but was clearly the difference in the victory. Roberts went off for 181 yards and three touchdowns. Roberts hauled in scoring strikes of 80, 70, and 11 yards from quarterback Riley Beecher in the win. Beecher threw for 324 yards for Manor.
Lache Seastrunk, Temple – The junior – regarded as one of the top running backs in the class of 2010 – rushed for 292 yards and four touchdowns on 17 carries as Temple claimed its first win of the season with a 49-42 triumph over Ellison. Seastrunk scored on an 81-yard run in the fourth quarter, which turned out to be the game winner.
Class 5A Associated Press Top 10 Recap
1. Euless Trinity (6-0, 3-0) – Defeated Colleyville Heritage, 35-28.
The Trojans scored 22 second quarter points and then held off a Steven Hill-led second half rally in a battle of unbeatens in District 5-5A. Sophomore Tevin Williams rushed for 78 yards and two touchdowns to lead Trinity, while quarterback Denarius McGhee completed 10-of-13 passes for 168 yards and three touchdowns. McGhee and Tyree Tucker hooked up for the second time in the contest from 4 yards out in the fourth quarter to help give the Trojans a 35-14 lead, which turned out to be insurmountable.
Surprisingly, Hill’s arm was still attached after the game after completing 40-of-58 passes for 396 yards and two touchdowns. Hill also ran for another score in a losing effort. Heritage dropped to 5-1 on the season.

Leading Rusher: Tevin Williams – 88 carries, 463 yards, 8 TDs.
Leading Passer: Denarius McGhee – 47-74, 878 yards, 4 TDs, 1 INT.

2. Plano (7-0, 3-0) – Defeated Plano West, 44-21.
Rex Burkhead compiled 238 total yards and Carson Meger completed 19-of-31 passing for 308 yards and three touchdowns as the Wildcats scored 44 unanswered points in the District 8-5A victory. Burkhead rushed for 177 yards and scored two touchdowns, while Meger hooked up with Robert Robinson on two touchdown strikes for the Wildcats. Kris Lott caught six passes for 95 yards, while Robinson paced Plano with five grabs for 93 yards.

3. Southlake Carroll (4-1, 0-1) – Lost to Coppell, 57-53.
In a wild one, Southlake Carroll couldn’t hold off a tough Coppell offense to drop its District 6-5A opener. Kyle Padron completed 30-of-46 through the air for 396 yards and five touchdowns in the loss for the Dragons. Padron also led the Dragons with 58 rushing yards and a touchdown. Josh Rake caught 10 passes for 110 yards and three touchdowns, while Ryan Walker also snagged 10 passes for 150 yards and a touchdown for Carroll.
Coppell’s Konner Joplin threw for 171 yards and four touchdowns, including the game-winner in the second overtime. Joplin drilled Jordan Tollet on a 3-yard touchdown strike to start the celebrations in Coppell. Evans Okotcha rushed for 121 yards and three touchdowns in the victory for Coppell.

Leading Rusher: Tommy Avers – 56 carries, 290 yards, 2 TDs.

4. Galena Park North Shore (4-0, 1-0) – Defeated Port Arthur Memorial, 66-7.
Alton Demby returned a blocked punt 20 yards for a touchdown and an interception 62 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter to lead North Shore to a 35-0 first quarter lead. Alex Tillman and Michael Ramirez combined to throw for three touchdowns, and Tillman would add a 34-yard touchdown run for the Mustangs. North Shore scored three defensive/special teams’ touchdowns for the second straight game and held Memorial to 78 total yards and forced four turnovers. North Shore won its 74th consecutive regular season game.

5. Abilene (7-0, 3-0) – Defeated Weatherford, 63-12.
It was a happy Homecoming for the Eagles with a rout over Weatherford in a District 3-5A encounter. A week after posting 81 points, Abilene heads into the bye-week by scoring a modest 63 behind 257 passing yards and two touchdowns from Stephen Warren. Zach Bass rushed for a pair of touchdowns, and Prentice Ashford added 125 receiving yards on seven receptions for the Eagles.

6. Odessa Permian (6-0, 5-0) – Defeated Midland Lee, 35-17.
In what is regarded as one of the top rivalries in the nation, Permian remained unbeaten and defeated Midland Lee in a District 2-5A battle. Clinging to a 14-10 halftime lead, the Panthers broke away with two third quarter touchdowns. Trevor Adams threw for 225 yards and three touchdowns, all going to Ryan Rumbaugh. Rumbaugh caught four passes for 170 yards in the win. Leading rusher Sherard Ray rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns for Permian. Trailing 7-0, Ray opened the scoring for Permian on a 40-yard touchdown run. Adams and Rumbaugh would put the Panthers ahead on an 84-yard touchdown hook-up before halftime.

The Woodlands rolled to 528 total yards and moved to 5-0 on the season by claiming its District 14-5A opener. Andy McCloud threw for 241 yards and a pair of touchdowns, including a 77-yard strike to Logan Rowe in the first quarter. College Park led in the second quarter before Ryan Eastman scored the first of two touchdowns on the night from 6 yards out. Daniel Lasco scored two touchdowns on runs of 79 and 32 yards for the Highlanders and finished with 196 yards on 14 carries.

Allen quarterback Matt Brown threw for 253 yards and five touchdowns on 12-of-13 passing to lead Allen. Four different receivers hauled in Brown’s touchdown strikes, with Alex Pastor leading the way with two. Bradlee Waddell opened the scoring on a 73-yard strike from Brown. Eight different receivers recorded catches in the victory for the Eagles, which moved to 2-1 in District 8-5A.

9. Copperas Cove (6-0, 3-0) – Defeated Bryan, 30-10.
The Bulldawgs overcame a second quarter deficit with three field goals from Michael Roell and two total touchdowns from quarterback Cody Vaughn. Roell kicked field goals of 47 and 36 yards in the second quarter to give Copperas Cove a 6-3 lead before Vaughn hooked up with Josh Boyce on a 24-yard touchdown pass to give the Bulldawgs a 13-10 halftime lead. Vaughn scored on a 5-yard run in the third quarter, and Sherome Miller added a 61-yard interception return for a score to extend Copperas Cove’s lead.

Kasey Carrier rushed for 184 yards and three touchdowns to lead Pearland to a victory in District 22-5A. Carrier opened the scoring on an 86-yard touchdown run in the first quarter to give an early lead. Carrier added scoring runs of 2 and 3 yards in the victory. Sam Allen threw for 160 yards and two touchdowns to pace the Oilers. Kevin Miller hauled in both Allen touchdown passes and finished with 115 receiving yards on seven receptions.

Class 4A Associated Press Top 10 Recap
1. Lake Travis (7-0, 3-0) – Defeated Lampasas, 57-0.
It is becoming a broken record out of the Austin area. Garrett Gilbert was Garrett Gilbert. Gilbert – arguably the top quarterback in the country – completed 18-of-23 passes for 298 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Cavaliers. After Andy Erickson opened the scoring for Lake Travis on a 36-yard run, Lampasas got a heavy dose of Gilbert and top target Cade McCrary. After the two hooked up for a two-point conversion following Erickson’s touchdown, the Gilbert to McCrary connection worked two times for touchdowns of 13 and 45 yards. McCrary added a touchdown run for the Cavaliers and finished with six grabs for 80 yards.
For the season, Gilbert is 131-of-198 through the air for 2,117 yards and 25 touchdowns, compared to just one interception. McCrary leads the Cavaliers with 799 yards on 38 receptions for 11 touchdowns. Chris Aydam, Andy Pollard, and Erickson all have at least 21 receptions and hover around 300 yards apiece in receiving and have combined for nine touchdowns.
2. Everman (6-0, 3-0) – Defeated Mansfield Legacy, 40-7.
Everman gave Mansfield Legacy a lesson in good old-fashioned football. The Bulldogs rushed for 411 yards on 38 carries and powered its way to a comfortable win with a huge fourth quarter behind the running of Ryan Smith. Smith led the dominating effort with 139 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries. Chris Franklin and Ruben Fletcher both paced the Bulldogs with 81 yards on the ground, with Franklin scoring on a 42-yard run. Everman also was dominant on the defensive side of the ball. Guy Jones returned an interception for a touchdown and the Bulldogs held Legacy to minus-16 yards rushing on 26 attempts.
3. Dallas Highland Park (6-0, 3-0) – Defeated Richardson Pearce, 52-10.
Luke Woodley completed 17-of-25 passes for 343 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Scots to a comfortable win. Pearce attempted to keep pace with Highland Park, trailing 21-10 after the first quarter. From there, it was all Woodley and Highland Park. Woodley added two touchdowns runs and Bryan Dickenson added 151 rushing yards and a touchdown. Josh Francis led the receiving corps with four receptions for 141 yards, including a 77-yard touchdown hook-up with Woodley.
4. Aledo (6-0, 3-0) – Defeated Azle, 42-0.
Freshman running back Johnathan Gray rushed for 164 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Bearcats to a Homecoming win. Behind the running of Gray, Aledo pulled away from a 14-0 halftime lead. The Bearcats have not allowed a point in 11 straight quarters of District 6-4A play. Gray has rushed for 407 yards and eight touchdowns this season.
5. Port Lavaca Calhoun (5-0, 3-0) – Defeated Corpus Christi Ray, 28-21.
Quarterback James Ezzell – the architect behind the powerful rushing attack for the Sandcrabs – rushed for a tough 98 yards and three touchdowns in the narrow victory. With the score tied at 14 in the fourth quarter, Ezzell scored his third touchdown of the game on a 15-yard run. Corey McDonnough then added a 23-yard fumble return for a touchdown to help put some cushion between the two teams. Calhoun rushed for 183 yards on 45 carries in the win. Leading rusher Sterling Jones was held to 33 yards on 10 carries for Calhoun, but they’ll take the victory.
6. Longview (5-2, 3-0) – Defeated Mount Pleasant, 51-7.
Longview displayed its explosiveness on offense, putting 20 points on the board in just over three minutes in the first quarter. Carey Fortson hauled in touchdown strikes of 63 and 20 yards in that 3-minute, 20-second span for the Lobos. Tyler McCray rushed for 82 yards, while Montario Harris tacked on two touchdowns after returning from a knee injury. Former Notre Dame/NFL standout Bobby Taylor had his jersey retired for Longview on a dominant night for his alma mater.
7. Dallas Carter (6-0, 3-0) – Defeated Dallas Kimball, 39-16.
The Cowboys continued to roll up impressive rushing statistics to remain unbeaten. Carter rushed for 357 yards on 59 carries. Anthony Miller led the effort with 123 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries, while Jarvis Phillips also eclipsed the century mark with 101 yards and two touchdown runs. Phillips tacked on a touchdown pass from 15 yards in the first quarter to Greg Ethridge.
8. Ennis (6-0, 3-0) – Defeated Cleburne, 56-13.
Quarterback D.J. Betik put on a show in a rout. Betik threw for 345 yards and six touchdowns in the victory. Kyle Guinyard caught seven passes for 154 yards and three touchdowns for the Lions. Deonte McDade reeled in two first quarter touchdown catches to pace the Lions. Ennis also took advantage of six Cleburne turnovers.
9. Cibolo Steele (6-0, 3-0) – Defeated New Braunfels Canyon, 28-21.
Malcolm Brown rushed for 262 yards and two touchdowns to lead Steele to the narrow victory. Brown’s 35-yard run with 1:14 remaining in the fourth quarter was the tie-breaker, giving Steele the victory. Jacob Trevino threw for two touchdowns, both coming within 1:43 of each other in a crucial third quarter.
10. Wolfforth Frenship (6-0, 1-0) – Defeated Big Spring, 39-21.
Bryan Seicks and Preston Dotson both rushed for a two touchdowns to lead Frenship to the victory. Tyler Lloyd threw for 117 yards and a touchdown, which went to Ben Christian in the first quarter. Frenship claimed its district opener in 4-4A.
