Softball Recap: Martins Ferry Takes a Loss

Martins Ferry and West Muskingum squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Martins Ferry had to settle for second. They came up short against the Tornadoes, falling 20-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Purple Riders have suffered since April 26th.

Samantha Goddard was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Martins Ferry's loss dropped their record down to 23-5. As for West Muskingum, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.

Martins Ferry does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for West Muskingum, they will take on Tuscarawas Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Tornadoes' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
