Baseball Recap: Lawrence Comes Up Short

Lawrence had lost four straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 0-5 to make it five. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chelmsford Lions. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Lancers were not able to get on the board.

As for Chelmsford, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

For Chelmsford's part, Lawrence's batters probably weren't too happy with Jason Bilo, who pitched a no hitter and racked up nine Ks (he gave up zero walks). Bilo has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Nate Duggan was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Cam Pnzeri was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lawrence will face off against Boston English at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Chelmsford, they will take on Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
