Preview: Decatur Community Red Devils vs. Hill City Ringnecks
Decatur Community has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge The Hill City Ringnecks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
After soaring to 54 points the game before, Decatur Community were a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 58-12 loss at the hands of Rawlins County. While losing is never fun, Decatur Community can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while Rawlins County is ranked sixth).
Meanwhile, Hill City got themselves on the board against Stockton on Friday, but Stockton never followed suit. They blew past the Tigers 72-0 on the road.
Hill City got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aiden Amrein out in front who threw for 146 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 passes. Dayton Stephen also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Hill City's win bumped their season record to 4-3 while Decatur Community's defeat dropped theirs to 2-5.
Decatur Community took a serious blow against Hill City in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 48-0. Thankfully for Decatur Community, Kaleb Atkins (who rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, and also picked up 61 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
