Basketball Recap: Minneola Comes Up Short

Minneola lost against Ashland back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Minneola Wildcats were dealt a 60-30 loss at the hands of the Ashland Blue Jays. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Minneola's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Raena Temaat, who posted 11 points and eight boards. The dominant performance gave Temaat a new career-high in points.

Leading Ashland to victory were Molly Harris and Biannca Ceniceros. Harris went 9-for-16 on her way to 22 points in addition to eight rebounds and eight steals, while Ceniceros went 7-for-15 en route to 18 points along with seven boards and seven steals. Harris has become a key player for Ashland: the team is 6-3 when she posts at least three steals, but 3-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Emilia Ceniceros, who earned eight points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Minneola's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Ashland, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.

Minneola has already played their next game (against Kiowa County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Ashland, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Moscow at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
