Basketball Recap: Northside Methodist Academy Takes a Loss

If Northside Methodist Academy was feeling good fresh off their 60-40 takedown of Daleville on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Knights came up short against the Poplar Springs Atomics on Tuesday, falling 68-44. That makes it the first time this season the Knights have let down their home crowd.

Jamal Carnley produced another solid effort going 10-for-17 on his way to 25 points in addition to seven steals and six assists for Poplar Springs. With that strong performance, Carnley is now averaging an impressive 2.8 steals per game. Another player making a difference was JD Barnes, who shot 63% from the field to rack up 14 points.

Northside Methodist Academy now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Poplar Springs, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northside Methodist Academy will face off against Kinston at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Knights will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 55.5 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Poplar Springs, they will square off against Zion Chapel at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
