Baseball Recap: University Red Devils vs. Harker Eagles

University won the last time they faced Harker and things went their way on Wednesday too. Everything went the University Red Devils' way against the Harker Eagles as the University Red Devils made off with a 13-4 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Red Devils.

Sabin Verplaetse and Rohan Hartigan were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Verplaetse struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Hartigan kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Verplaetse has posted since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Verplaetse went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Hartigan scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, University got a massive performance out of Jett Messenger, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Mattie Grisso, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

University didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-7 win against Terra Nova on the 4th. As for Harker, they have also already played their next contest, a 10-0 loss against Gunn on the 28th.
