The Lincoln County Lynx will head out to face off against the White Pine Bobcats at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Lincoln County sitting on three straight wins and White Pine on four.
If Lincoln County beats White Pine with 20 runs on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Everything went Lincoln County's way against GV Christian on Monday as Lincoln County made off with a 20-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lynx, who have now won three contests by 11 runs or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask White Pine). They were the clear victor by a 20-2 margin over Pahranagat Valley on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Bobcats with their most commanding win of the season.
Tucker Maestes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. He has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dylan Cessford, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Daniel Highline was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
White Pine was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in three consecutive matches.
White Pine's record now sits at 4-2. As for Lincoln County, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Lincoln County couldn't quite finish off White Pine in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 and fell 12-10. Can Lincoln County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
