Softball Recap: Solanco Makes It Nine in a Row on the Road

Solanco had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They blew past the Elizabethtown Bears 15-1. Considering the Golden Mules have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Delaney Gote, who fired off two home runs, four RBI, and one stolen base while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Martin, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Solanco lost a few balls and finished the game with six home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Solanco's victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Elizabethtown, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.

Solanco and Elizabethtown should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Golden Mules (ranked 54th) will meet Fleetwood (ranked 217th) at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Solanco 2.1, the Tigers 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Elizabethtown will take on Garden Spot at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (257 vs. 561).
