Softball Game Preview: Orcas Island Vikings vs. Coupeville Wolves

Orcas Island is 0-10 against Coupeville since March of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Vikings will venture away from home to face off against the Wolves at 3:00 p.m. Orcas Island has given up an average of 12.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Orcas Island's last matchup with Darrington could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Saturday. The Vikings came up short against the Loggers, falling 16-4. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Coupeville had already won 11 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.1 runs) and they went ahead and made it 12 on Saturday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Spartans.

Coupeville's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.9 runs over those games. As for Orcas Island, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

Orcas Island suffered a grim 16-5 defeat to Coupeville when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
