Basketball Recap: Lily Mclean's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Southside over Northside - Pinetown

Southside lost against Northside - Pinetown back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Southside Seahawks took a 56-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northside - Pinetown Panthers.

Southside lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Lily McLean, who went 7 for 8 en route to 15 points in addition to five boards and three steals. McLean has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of I'Kiriyah Minor, who posted 15 points.

Even though they lost, Southside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 14 consecutive games.

Southside's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Northside - Pinetown, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 16-1.

Southside will challenge Lejeune at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northside - Pinetown has already played their next matchup, a 61-33 win against Pamlico County on the 3rd.
