Baseball Game Preview: Fountain Inn Fury vs. Woodruff Wolverines

Fountain Inn is a perfect 3-0 against Woodruff since March of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Fountain Inn Fury will be taking part in a tournament against the Woodruff Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. Fountain Inn's pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so Woodruff's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Fountain Inn took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Greenville H a 10-0 shutout. That looming 10-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Fury yet this season.

Luke Tanner tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Fountain Inn got a big performance out of Miles Barbrey, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Barbrey a new career-high in RBI (two). Dominick Stopa was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Woodruff lost 13-3 to Blue Ridge on Thursday. The Wolverines have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fountain Inn's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Woodruff, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Everything went Fountain Inn's way against Woodruff in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Fountain Inn made off with a 9-1 win. Will Fountain Inn repeat their success, or does Woodruff have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
