Basketball Game Preview: Mendenhall Tigers vs. Morton Panthers

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Mendenhall Tigers challenge the Morton Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday... Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Mendenhall turned things around against Northeast Jones on Tuesday. They strolled past the Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 46-29.

Meanwhile, Morton waltzed into their game on Friday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 43-33. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Tigers are ranked 125th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The win got Mendenhall back to even at 12-12. As for Morton, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-5.

Mendenhall came up short against Morton in their previous meeting on Friday, falling 43-33. Can Mendenhall avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
