Basketball Recap: Benjamin Victorious

Benjamin's tournament run continued when they took on Westwood on Friday. The Buccaneers slipped by the Panthers 38-37. Those 38 points were actually the fewest the Buccaneers have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Benjamin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Logan Buchanan, who went 6-for-13 en route to 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and five blocks. Buchanan is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 46% in the last eight games he's played. Tristan Cameron was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and 13 boards.

Benjamin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive games.

When it comes to explaining why Westwood lost, don't look at Oscar 'OJ' Joseph. Despite the final result, he posted 13 points.

Benjamin's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Westwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-5.

Benjamin wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 51-45 loss against Jupiter Christian on the 3rd. As for Westwood, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 83-48 victory against St. Edward's on the 3rd.
