Basketball Game Preview: Laughlin Cougars vs. Adelson

Laughlin has gone 8-0 against Adelson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Laughlin Cougars will welcome Adelson at 5:00 p.m. Laughlin will be strutting in after a win while Adelson will be coming in after a defeat.

Laughlin is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Sandy Valley 52-16 on Tuesday. The Cougars pushed the score to 41-16 by the end of the third, a deficit the Sidewinders had little chance of recovering from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Laughlin to victory, but perhaps none more so than AmorA ThomAs, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 steals. Those 11 steals gave Thomas a new career-high. Valeria Quintero was another key player, putting up 20 points and eight steals.

Meanwhile, Adelson played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 73-17 loss at the hands of Needles. Adelson was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-10.

This is the second loss in a row for Adelson and nudges their season record down to 2-10. As for Laughlin, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-7.

Laughlin was able to grind out a solid win over Adelson in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, winning 54-46. Does Laughlin have another victory up their sleeve, or will Adelson turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
