Baseball Game Preview: Harlan County Black Bears vs. South Laurel Cardinals

The Harlan County Black Bears will take on the South Laurel Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Harlan County's offense. They fell 4-0 to Bell County on Tuesday. The Black Bears just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Meanwhile, South Laurel fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Whitley County on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Colonels by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cardinals have suffered since April 8, 2024.

Vince Sizemore made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. He also put up a run, which was his first of the season.

Harlan County's loss dropped their record down to 5-9-1. As for South Laurel, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-3.
