Baseball Recap: Southside Christian Takes Down St. Joseph's Catholic in a Playoff Battle

Southside Christian extended their postseason success on Monday against St. Joseph's Catholic. They had just enough and edged out the Knights 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Sabres have posted against the Knights since May 13, 2023.

Matt Cauthen was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

Southside Christian is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-2-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for St. Joseph's Catholic, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-9.

Looking ahead, Southside Christian will take on Chapman at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Sabres' hitters will have their work cut out for them. St. Joseph's Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
