The Johnnies are taking a road trip to square off against the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. Watkins Memorial took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Johnstown-Monroe, who comes in off a win.
Johnstown-Monroe is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Northridge get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory on Monday. The Johnnies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by six runs or more this season.
Lucia Kuhn made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Kuhn was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Riley Stefanick was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season. Abigail Wood was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base.
Johnstown-Monroe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Watkins Memorial fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Licking Heights on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 7-6. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Kyliee Trouten was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Paisley Conley, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Johnstown-Monroe's win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3. As for Watkins Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Johnstown-Monroe hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Watkins Memorial struggles in that department as they've averaged .337. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
