Softball Recap: Ennis Now 10-1 over Last 11 Games

Ennis won the last time they faced Crandall and things went their way on Friday too. The Ennis Lions blew past the Crandall Pirates 11-4. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

Breona Benavidez was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI.

In other batting news, Kaycee Slovak was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Analisa Salazar was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.

Ennis kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Ennis has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. Crandall's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-5.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Ennis Lions duke it out with Midlothian Panthers at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Midlothian will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Ennis surely won't give up without a fight. As for Crandall, they will be playing at home against Terrell at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. Crandall is facing Terrell at the right time seeing as Terrell is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
