Recap: Parkdale Panthers vs. Laurel Spartans
The Parkdale Panthers pushed their score all the way to 57 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Laurel. Parkdale has struggled against Laurel recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was anuel decker, who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that decker scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Mark Freeland, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and three blocks.
Parkdale struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Laurel posted 16 assists.
Jermaine Taylor was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with six rebounds and five steals for Laurel. Taylor is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gilbert Osafo, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and four blocks.
Parkdale's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Laurel, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Parkdale and Northwestern will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Northwestern is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Laurel, Laurel and DuVal will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (DuVal is ranked 118th, while Laurel is ranked 135th).
