Baseball Recap: Garinger Takes a Loss

Garinger lost against West Mecklenburg last Thursday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Garinger Wildcats fell 9-5 to the West Mecklenburg Hawks. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Reiner Hernandez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing Six bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Efrain Santana, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Garinger's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for West Mecklenburg, they pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Garinger will welcome Independence at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Independence has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12 runs per game on average), something Garinger will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for West Mecklenburg, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against West Charlotte at 6:00 p.m. West Mecklenburg's pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so West Charlotte's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
