Basketball Recap: Nucla Mustangs vs. Ridgway Demons
If Nucla was feeling good fresh off their 52-32 takedown of Dove Creek back in December of 2024, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Nucla Mustangs fell 65-58 to the Ridgway Demons on Thursday. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Demons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Nucla still got an impressive performance from Austin Garvey, who went 7 of 10 en route to 18 points. Those 18 points gave Garvey a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brycen Rummel, who posted eight points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Even though they lost, Nucla was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ridgway only posted four assists.
Isaac Baskfield had an outrageously good game for Ridgway as he went 10 of 17 on his way to 27 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Harper Crane, who put up 13 points and three steals.
Nucla's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Ridgway, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-5.
Nucla didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-32 win against Mancos on the 11th. As for Ridgway, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 73-56 victory against Dolores on the 11th.
