Football Recap: Loyola College Prep's Undefeated Season over After Nine Games

After flying high against Booker T. Washington-Shreveport last Friday, Loyola College Prep came back down to earth. The Flyers took a hard 63-49 fall against the North DeSoto Griffins on Friday. The Flyers have struggled against the Griffins recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Loyola College Prep lost, don't look at Bryce Restovich. Despite the final result, he threw for 403 yards and five touchdowns, and also punched in one score on the ground. Restovich is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last eight games he's played. Jake Black was in the mix too, providing Loyola College Prep with two TDs.

North DeSoto's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kenny Thomas led the charge by rushing for 276 yards and four scores while picking up 12.5 yards per carry. Those 276 rushing yards gave Thomas a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Delafield, who threw for 216 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.

Having lost for the first time this season, Loyola College Prep fell to 8-1. As for North DeSoto, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Loyola College Prep will take on Northwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons' defense has only allowed 15 points per game this season, so the Flyers' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for North DeSoto, they will challenge Bossier at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
