Basketball Recap: Wood County Christian Comes Up Short

Wood County Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 73-57 to the Valley Lumberjacks. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Wildcat came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while the Lumberjacks are ranked 651st).

Wood County Christian now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wood County Christian will square off against Hundred at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hundred knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 games -- so hopefully Wood County Christian likes a good challenge. As for Valley, they will face off against Clay-Battelle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Valley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 matches.
