Basketball Recap: Manila Beats Tintic for Their Fifth Straight Win

Manila won the last time they faced Tintic and things went their way on Friday too. The Manila Mustangs put the hurt on the Tintic Miners with a sharp 53-27 win. The victory was nothing new for the Mustangs as they're now sitting on five straight.

Manila's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sadie Davis, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds. Davis has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kallie Bair, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards.

Manila smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 33 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.

Tintic's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jordan Conder, who posted eight points and five rebounds, and Mariana Pena, who had six points along with six boards and four blocks.

Manila pushed their record up to 9-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for Tintic, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Manila didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-28 win against Kemmerer on the 18th. As for Tintic, they will welcome Rich at 4:00 p.m. on January 24th. Rich will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Tintic surely won't give up without a fight.
