Volleyball Game Preview: Mesquite Skeeters vs. DeSoto Eagles

Mesquite hasn't had much luck against DeSoto recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Skeeters will square off against the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Friday, Mesquite didn't have quite enough to beat Cedar Hill and fell 3-2.

Mesquite wouldn't go down easily and took Cedar Hill into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking 15-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 25-0, 0-25, 0-25, 25-0, 15-0.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times DeSoto and Duncanville have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Eagles lost 3-0 to the Panthers and Pantherettes. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Panthers and Pantherettes: they've now lost three in a row.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Duncanville scored at least 17 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-17, 25-19.

Mesquite's defeat dropped their record down to 7-15. As for DeSoto, their loss dropped their record down to 16-10.

Mesquite might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from DeSoto in their previous matchup back in September. Can the Skeeters avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
