Volleyball Recap: Neuse Charter Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Neuse Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to the East Wake Academy Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-1 defeat on Monday.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-4, 11-25, 25-17.

Layla Johnson paced Neuse Charter's offense, picking up nine kills. Johnson got some help from Mikayla Leonard and her 12 assists. Sloane Smith controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

East Wake Academy was led to victory by Emerson Morris and Avery Schmidt. Morris had ten digs, six kills, four aces, and three blocks, while Schmidt had 27 assists and ten digs. Schmidt is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 16 or more in each of the last nine games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lydia Todd, who had ten blocks and six kills.

Neuse Charter's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for East Wake Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Neuse Charter didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Rocky Mount Prep on the 18th. As for East Wake Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Roxboro Community on the 13th.
