The Herron Achaeans will square off against the Indianapolis Shortridge Blue Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Herron knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Indianapolis Shortridge likes a good challenge.
On Friday, Herron got the win against Irvington Preparatory Academy by a conclusive 15-6. Considering the Achaeans have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Jordyn Ault spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits.
At the plate, Elena Newsom and Kayla Page did most of the damage at the plate: Newsom went 3-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one double, while Page went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Page has posted since back in April. Taylor Cotham was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Herron kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Irvington Preparatory Academy only managed eight hits.
Indianapolis Shortridge couldn't beat Herron on Tuesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the second inning. The Blue Devils lost 22-8 to the Achaeans.
Aries Smith made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Indianapolis Shortridge's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Herron, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
Indianapolis Shortridge's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Herron hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. It's a different story for Indianapolis Shortridge, though, as they've only averaged .236. Will they be able to contain Herron's hitters?
Herron took their win against Indianapolis Shortridge in their previous meeting on Tuesday by a conclusive 22-8 score. Will the Achaeans repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
