Softball Recap: Lennard Wins Going Away Against Tampa Bay Tech

Lennard was not the first on the board on Thursday, but they got there more often. They were the clear victor by a 25-6 margin over the Tampa Bay Tech Titans. The Longhorns have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Titans, too.

Madyson Pucillo was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.

In other batting news, Lennard let Hannah Rooks and Kennedy McClain run wild. Rooks scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances, while McClain scored five runs and stole a base while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ashley Brionez, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5.

Lennard always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .780. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tampa Bay Tech only posted an OBP of .370.

The victory got Lennard back to even at 1-1. As for Tampa Bay Tech, they dropped their record down to 1-1 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lennard will host Brandon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tampa Bay Tech, they will welcome King at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
