With a playoff win on the line, Bethel rose to the challenge on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Richmond Oilers as they made off with an 18-5 win. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 35-7 win back in April.
Makayla Nuval made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Nuval was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.
In other batting news, Arry Duran was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Lily Fjellman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles.
Bethel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .871. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Bethel is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-15-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games.
