Baseball Recap: Riverside Takes a Loss

Riverside had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 10-8 to make it four. They fell just short of the Palmyra Panthers by a score of 5-4. The Rams were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

As for Palmyra, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games.

For Palmyra's part, the team relied heavily on Ian Smith, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Smith has become a key player for the Panthers: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-8 otherwise.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverside will challenge Pennington at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Palmyra, they will take on Ewing at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
