Football Preview: Piedra Vista Panthers vs. Canyon Eagles        
        
		
             The Piedra Vista Panthers will head out to  square off against the Canyon Eagles  at 8:00  p.m.  on Friday. Piedra Vista has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the  game with three straight  losses, while Canyon will come in with three straight  victories.
 Piedra Vista is likely headed into the  match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Alamogordo two weeks ago. Piedra Vista and Alamogordo were almost perfectly matched up, but Piedra Vista suffered  a  36-35 defeat. One positive for the Panthers, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
 Piedra Vista might have lost, but man,  Brig Keiser was a machine:  he rushed for 250 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. Keiser's longest rush was for an incredible 82 yards.
 Even though they lost, Piedra Vista was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 373  rushing yards. That's the most  rushing yards they've managed all season.
 Piedra Vista wouldn't let Alamogordo keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Piedra Vista can thank  Amasi Griego and  Armando Martinez for forcing both of them.
 Meanwhile,  you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Canyon  on Thursday. Everything went their way against Caprock as Canyon made off with  a  27-3 win. That looming  27-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Eagles yet this  season.
 Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Canyon to victory, but perhaps none more so than   Ryan Rivera, who rushed for 95 yards on only ten carries.
 Piedra Vista's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Canyon, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
 Friday's   matchup might be decided in the on the ground. Piedra Vista has been unstoppable on the ground this season,  having  averaged 262  rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Canyon struggles in that department as   they've been averaging 271.2. It's looking like  Friday's  contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
