Basketball Recap: Dolores Huerta Prep Takes a Loss

Dolores Huerta Prep came up into this matchup off a tough 59-point defeat last Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Pueblo South Colts by a score of 28-25 on Saturday. The matchup was a 10-10 toss-up at halftime, but the Scorpions couldn't quite close it out.

Pueblo South had a senior duo take command as Kyla Cruz posted seven points and three steals and Noah Mirshamsi had eight points.

Dolores Huerta Prep is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5. As for Pueblo South, with the win, they broke their 26-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dolores Huerta Prep will host The Colorado Springs School on Saturday. As for Pueblo South, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Golden at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Pueblo South: they have been struggling with 14 straight losses at home dating back to last season, while Golden has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.
