Basketball Game Preview: Bishop Rosecrans Bishops vs. Malvern Hornets

The Bishop Rosecrans Bishops will face off against the Malvern Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop Rosecrans is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.4 points per game this season.

On Saturday, Bishop Rosecrans came up short against Wellington School and fell 60-50.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Tyler Bernett, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 boards. He has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 16 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kohen Harris, who posted 11 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Malvern entered their tilt with Tuscarawas Central Catholic on Friday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They strolled past the Saints with points to spare, taking the game 66-48. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while the Saints are ranked 767th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Malvern pushed their record up to 17-3 with the victory, which was their 25th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.6 points over those games. As for Bishop Rosecrans, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-5.

Bishop Rosecrans and Malvern were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in March of 2017, but Bishop Rosecrans came up empty-handed after a 56-55 loss.
