Softball Recap: Dubois Has No Trouble Against Brookville

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Punxsutawney, DuBois was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Brookville Raiders with a sharp 16-1 win. The Beavers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.

Ava Baronick made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Audrey Hale and Haley Reed did most of the damage at the plate: Hale went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles, while Reed went 2-for-3 with three runs and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Elliette Brewer, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

DuBois kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

DuBois has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Brookville, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

DuBois has already played their next match, an 11-1 defeat against Mifflin County on the 22nd. As for Brookville, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-4 loss against Brockway on the 24th.
