Softball Recap: Westfield Extends Winning Streak to Three

Westfield waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Cassadaga Valley Cougars. That's two games straight that the Wolverines have won by exactly 11 runs.

Eva Gnadzinski made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April.

In other batting news, Westfield got a massive performance out of Mackenzie Schumaker, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Schumaker has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Sydney Hotchkiss, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Westfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cassadaga Valley only posted a batting average of .143.

Westfield's record now sits at 8-5. As for Cassadaga Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Westfield will challenge Gowanda at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Cassadaga Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
