Baseball Recap: Lakeview Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Lakeview couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Mercyhurst Prep Lakers by a score of 1-0 on Friday. The Sailors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lakers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2018.

Maddox Bell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

Lakeview moved to 16-4 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak. As for Mercyhurst Prep, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 21-1.

Lakeview does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mercyhurst Prep, they will square off against Greenville on Monday. The Lakers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
