Baseball Recap: Bogalusa Gets the Win

Bogalusa took a 13-run loss the last time they faced off against Albany, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lumberjacks narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Hornets 9-8. While the Lumberjacks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Bogalusa got a massive performance out of Jaylun Thomas, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Thomas has become a key player for the Lumberjacks: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Alferd Moses, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Bogalusa moved to 10-6 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Albany, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-7.

Looking ahead, Bogalusa will challenge Sumner at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Albany, they will be playing at home against Kentwood at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
