Basketball Recap: Bonneville Comes Up Short

Bonneville lost a heartbreaker to Roy when they met back in February of 2024, and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. The Bonneville Lakers fell to the Roy Royals 36-31. The Lakers have struggled against the Royals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Bonneville still got an impressive performance from Charity Mcdonald, who posted 12 points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Bonneville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive matchups.

Roy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Talyeah Valdez out in front who went 6 for 10 on her way to 13 points and three steals. Those 13 points gave Valdez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jazzi Prieto, who earned ten points and five assists.

Bonneville's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Roy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-11 record this season.

When Bonneville and Roy next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Bonneville will try to stop Bountiful's ten-game winning streak when the meet at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Similarly, Roy will challenge Clearfield and their five-game winning streak at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
