Basketball Recap: John F. Kennedy Triumphs

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but John F. Kennedy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 79-78 victory over John Hay. The score was all tied up 32-32 at the break, but the Fighting Eagles were the better team in the second half.

John Hay's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Taevon Walker, who posted 25 points, and Quincy Boyd, who had 23 points. Walker's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Melvin Wells, who put up eight points.

John F. Kennedy now has a winning record of 2-1. As for John Hay, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

John F. Kennedy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 86-55 defeat against Glenville on the 13th. As for John Hay, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 62-57 win against Shaw on the 11th.
