Football Game Preview: Sugar-Salem Diggers vs. Preston Indians + How To Watch

Sugar-Salem has gone a perfect 3-0 against Preston recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. Sugar-Salem is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 34 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Sugar-Salem got the win against Kimberly by a conclusive 35-14. The result was nothing new for the Diggers, who have now won three games by 21 points or more so far this season.

Frank Fillmore continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 215 yards and four touchdowns on only nine passes. Those 215 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Sugar-Salem also got a significant boost from Kimball Tonks, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 81 yards.

Sugar-Salem's run defense was locked in: Kimberly could only muster 1.8 yards per carry. The team can thank Tonks for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sugar-Salem's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 3.6.

Sugar-Salem didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Benjamin Hegewald, Tonks, and Walt Fillmore picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, Preston had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They snuck past Burley with a 19-13 victory last Friday.

Sugar-Salem's record now sits at 4-1. As for Preston, their record is now 2-3.

Everything came up roses for Sugar-Salem against Preston in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 48-20 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Diggers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
