Baseball Recap: Cloquet Picks Up Second Consecutive Win

Cloquet barely beat North Branch the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lumberjacks never let the Vikings get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Lumberjacks have posted against the Vikings since May 12, 2018.

Niko Gentilini was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That run marked the first that he has scored this season. Luca Gentilini was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

The victory made it two in a row for Cloquet and bumps their season record up to 3-6. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-10 North Branch and 2-6 Chisago Lakes Area. As for North Branch, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.

Cloquet will be playing at home against Cherry at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for North Branch, they will venture away from home to square off against Chisago Lakes Area at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
