Basketball Recap: Beaufort Eagles vs. Cane Bay Cobras
Beaufort was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 107-36 loss at the hands of the Cane Bay Cobras. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-24.
Samari Bonds and Manny Hampton certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Bonds shot 4-for-6 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Hampton earned eight points. Bonds' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.
Even though they lost, Beaufort smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.
Jarvis Roper had a dynamite game for Cane Bay, dropping a double-double on 32 points and ten steals. The dominant performance also gave Roper a new career-high in assists (three). Austin Seabrook was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 11 assists.
Beaufort's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Cane Bay, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
