Softball Recap: Calvary Baptist Academy Starts Season with Victory Against Stanley

Calvary Baptist Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Stanley Panthers a 7-0 shutout. The win was familiar territory for the Cavaliers, who have now won five matchups in a row dating back to last season.

Mallory Carver was incredible, going a perfect2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Reese Walker, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Calvary Baptist Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in 11 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, Calvary Baptist Academy and Stanley will both be playing Evangel Christian Academy the next time they take the field. Stanley will head out to face Evangel Christian Academy at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, while Calvary Baptist Academy will play them later in the day, at 4:15 p.m.
