Baseball Game Preview: Babcock Trailblazers vs. East Lee County Jaguars

The Babcock Trailblazers will venture away from home to square off against the East Lee County Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, everything went Babcock's way against Sarasota Military Academy as Babcock made off with a 15-3 victory.

Anthony Brand was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Brand was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paxton Cooper, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Cooper is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's stolen at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Rayden Waletko, who scored three runs while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, East Lee County got the win against Everglades City on Tuesday by a conclusive 48-5.

The win got East Lee County back to even at 1-1. As for Babcock, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
